Davis, CA – April 19, 2019 – Davis Music Fest is back for a ninth consecutive year as the town’s very own SXSW-style music festival, June 21st-23rd. DMF9 features forty acts playing a wide range of music including funk, soul, indie-rock, jazz, Latin, hip hop, roots, soul, and more.

The annual three day “no headliners” lineup encourages festival goers to explore downtown Davis on foot, grab a bite, and check out the performers at each venue over the course of the weekend. Festival goers will find memorable artists returning to town like the soulful and funky Mojo Green, Sacramento’s very rockin’ Dog Party, rising hip hop star The Philharmonik, and indie icon John Vanderslice. DMF is also excited to introduce local audiences to west coast acts new to the event including San Francisco psych rockers King Dream, the all-American harmonies of The Coffis Brothers from Santa Cruz, Portland indies Rum River Cult, and electronic dance sounds from LA with Loud Forest. Of course it wouldn’t be Davis Music Fest without local favorites like Jessica MaloneBoot JuiceBig Sticky MessThe Big PoppiesWest Nile Ramblers, and Boca do Rio. This year’s festival will also feature a performance by the winner of the first ever Davis Music Fest Youth Band Competition, showcasing the talent of one local DJUSD artist.

Music kicks off Friday, June 21st with a block party-style evening of music, food, and beer at the Sudwerk Brewing Co. Dock Store featuring an amazing night-one line up of artists from 5-10pm, food trucks, and plenty of Sudwerk beer on tap. Friday is also international Make Music Day celebrated by our friends at Make Music Davis, so look for something special to mark the occasion. Saturday June 22nd offers a full day of music starting at 2:15pm and wrapping up at midnight, with stages at Armadillo MusicDelta of VenusSophia’s Thai KitchenDavis Odd Fellows Lodge, and the courtyard at Pence Gallery, who is also presenting a music-themed exhibition to run concurrently with the festival. For anyone still looking for more, the party continues Sunday June 23rd from 12:30 to 6pm on two stages at Delta of Venus.

Saturday’s stage at Delta of Venus will be home to long time event sponsor Berryessa Brewing Company’s tap trailer, while the stage at Pence Gallery will offer beer from Dunloe Brewing and wine from local vintners.

Now a much anticipated way to jump into summer, DMF is, at its heart, a fundraiser for the Davis School Arts Foundation. DSAF and Davis Music Fest have worked together for nine years to provide more than $10,000 in resources for arts and music education in Davis public schools. It’s also just a really good time, bringing music, joy, and fun to the Davis community.

The event is put on by the all-volunteer, member run nonprofit Davis Live Music Collective, which produces four concerts annually including DMF. It is made possible through the generosity of our twenty five loyal sponsors as well as the tireless efforts of the DLMC board, DMF planning committee, and a small army of volunteers.

Festival admission allows guests to move freely from venue to venue and catch as many acts as possible. Tickets are on sale online or at Armadillo Music for $35 plus fees through May 23rd, with prices going up May 24th through the event date. The full list of performers and sponsors is available online, and the performance schedule and venue map will be available June 1st online and in the June edition of the Davis Dirt.
