Lillian Frances makes music she would want to listen to road tripping through Joshua Tree. She started learning guitar in college so she could (unsuccessfully) pick up guys by playing “Blackbird” in the quad. After experiencing sexism in the studio she decided she wanted the boys out of there and wanted to be able to do everything by herself, and started getting into music production. Having raced on her high school snowboard team, she was influenced heavily by whatever the steezy snowboard kids were listening to—MGMT, Passion Pit, Sleigh Bells, STRFKR—and whatever else her and her friends passed around on their racing playlist CDs. After getting tendonitis in both hands due to excessive butternut squash harvesting (girthy vegetables, amirite!) and lost the ability to play guitar, she dove head first into electronic music.
Lillian has already opened for Sylvan Esso Davis, CA and played with Shakey Graves in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She looks forward to playing the Davis Music Festival this summer.
When she’s not thinking about music she’s either dead, unconscious, or looking for her keys.
